In a ribboned handbasket.

Daniel: Dogs aren’t very good at backing up with speed. Have you ever tried dragging one with a four-wheeler?

Katherine: You know, it’s times like this where I am very aware of the fact that you are going to hell.

Where I sit for 8 Hours a Day

Katherine, A Blind epileptic would have a seizure if he walked by your desk!

Yep. This is where I sit for eight hours a day five days a week. I enjoy having a colorful desk where I am surrounded by cute origami creatures, printed out Memes and something to celebrate every holiday. I even have a Dragon Age 2: Anders plushie tacked up in there! It is a bit horrific, but I love my desk as I feel that I have expressed myself quite eloquently.

I’m sure you are. *Rawer*

I’m not saying Jayne Cobb is the only reason I re-watch the Firefly series, but seeing Adam Baldwin with beard stubble certainly doesn’t hurt!

Valentines Day Blahblah.

Posted in: Brain Leaks|Tags: love, william, work|February 15, 2012No Comments

I don’t really celebrate Valentines Day personally, I usually view it as just another holiday to have to keep up with; however,  seeing as how we had a party at work today there wasn’t much ignoring it. To add silliness to the situation, I had forgotten to pick up the cupcakes I had ordered the night before, and William got to show up at the office at 9:30 carrying 30 cupcakes in various shades of pink that were topped with these gaudy plastic heart rings. When I came up to the front of the building the conversation went something like this:

Me: You died a little inside having to be seen in public with those didn’t you?

William: Yes… yes I did. People kept asking me if I had a kid in school who was having a Valentines Day party.

Me: And how did you reply?

William: Pretty much with a “F**k no.”

Me: That’s the warm, cuddly, child-hating man I fell in love with.

Needless to say the receptionist was a bit confused.

Since most people at work know the two of us (as Will had previously worked at my office and we hang out with our workmates outside of the office on occasion), our relationship is a topic of much hilarity. This is mostly due to the fact that both Will and myself refuse to get married in the foreseeable future, have absolutely no interest in having children, and when we are seen together we are constantly having fake arguments and threatening to strangle one another. My cubicle mates generally make joke comments such as: “Did you hit him with the chair last night?” as every story I end up telling about an ‘argument’ or anything else involving Will ends playfully with “So I hit him with a chair.”

I get a lot of questions about how Will and I get along with one another so well, and I also get asked how often we have actual arguments. The truth is we really don’t ever fight. We used to, but that was due to a little she-devil sowing seeds of discord into our happy lives, ever since we stopped dealing with her our lives went back to a happy-happy-land. I usually respond that William is my best friend that I happen to live in the same house with. He is always going to be my best friend first and lover second. I don’t treat him any differently than I would say, my best friend Nina (well… except for the fact that I kiss him and holds hands and all that mushy stuff).

I’m really not sure how to explain our relationship beyond that. We play together, gripe together, scream at people holding us up in traffic together. We just don’t get tired of one another. I love all my friends dearly, but if I had to choose one person to get stranded on a desert island with, it would be Will (and not just because he could probably build a boat out of a coconut!). It’s strange though, we have such different tastes and interests, yet we like a lot of the same things. We just mesh together really well.

I suppose one really awesome thing is that our hobbies tend to point us in different directions. For example, I have my D.I.Y. Obsessions, OCD cleaning issues, and my Website/Blog/Photoshop playtime whereas he likes to play Golf and Pool, and do things outside of the house. This gives us both breathing room to do something away from one another and have our alone time here and there.

And sometimes I honestly feel that the best thing for a relationship is being able to have some time without your lover. It makes you appreciate them more when they come home.

Love grows, where my Rosemary goes…

My car broke last week, well the trailing arm broke anyway. It was only a $30 fix, so I can’t complain very much. It was fairly interesting to be driving and having the thought of: “What was that snapping sound? Oh my god, is my wheel wobbling?“ run through my mind. It was certainly an interesting experience. Thankfully it happened close to the house, and the wheel wasn’t really in any danger of falling off per-se. My car just got to sit quietly for a few days while we waited patiently for the part to get shipped. (Thank god I own a car made in my own country!)

I’ve also gotten a lot of hobbyish style stuff done recently. I finished my cross stitching project (pictures will eventually be posted in the photography gallery), and after reading both Crystal Wilkerson’s website and planner ideas as well as Hannah’s blog post on the same topic I decided to make my own organizer. (Which is about 75% done at this point, I just have to print out my monthly and daily pages!) There will be a DIY (Do-It-Yourself) style post put together and posted in the main blog with tutorials in the near future. I’ll also be including my page templates for free download once I finish drafting the post. (Which will take place on the now standardized Friday/Saturday update.)

William has also gotten sick this week. This is the second time in a few months, which is very unlike him. Poor baby. At least he doesn’t have to work tomorrow so he can get a day of rest. (That is if he doesn’t wake up and start screaming at the new Forza game all afternoon!)

If anybody is unfamiliar with the title of this post by the way, it is from an oldies song by Edison Lighthouse titled “Love Grows Where my Rosemary Goes” I absolutely adore the song, it is so upbeat and lovely. I listen to a lot of oldies music, there isn’t the normal clash and bang in the background, and you don’t have to listen to cut out expletives.
